Cadmium Yellow
A bright, high chroma yellow. The Cadmium Lemon is actually a lot less stiff than most of their cadmium yellow colors, and has a touch more of a melting quality. This color is still capable of impasto. All assessments are contextual, and so while this is a citrusy lemon yellow in certain contexts it was warmer than we thought. There is a bit of a lightness or almost whiteness to the color, which is an interesting quality, as it raises the lightness in mixes. Gamblin’s Cadmium Lemon has a bit of an unexpected warmth to it as well as a lightening effect in mixtures. This color has such a brightening effect, that if you want to add white to a mix that also needs to be tilted towards yellow, the mix may require less white.
