Phthalocyanine Blue RS
Phthalocyanine Blue
This is phthalo that is pleasant to work with and has that Gamblin gel feel to it. The paint is short but does spread, and is pleasant until it stops. The consistency is quite impasto, and it forms defined peaks and ribbons. It may dry a lot more matte based on the sample we put on the outside of our tube. However in context with other phthalos we didn’t find this quality to be as noticeable. Some years ago this paint changed formulas and is now PB15:2, a less green-leaning blue.
Gamblin’s site lists this color as PB15:2, Blick lists it as PB15:1, and the Art is Creation pigment database seems to have this paint listed under both pigment formulations. We reached out to Gamblin and the color is PB15:2. Gamblin categorizes this pigment as warm.
