Cadmium Yellow
Viridian
This lively lime is a terrific paint: a saturated yellow green with a warmth to it. We suspect a slightly warmer cadmium yellow is at play in the mix as it has a different nature when dried than some similar colors (thinking here of the similar Gamblin Cadmium Green, which while it is similar in hue, Gamblin has a coolness and touch of lightness compared to RGH Cadmium Green Deep). Though named “Deep,” this RGH color is in the yellow greens, around 5GY for Munsellists. A paint with admirable pigmentation, this color had higher tinting strength than many other brands. It retained its warmth well in tints with a sunlight yellow-green note that was still a bit warm even when mixed with white. The consistency does not recommend itself for impasto, however it is great for other painting methods. It is fairly flowing and has a very smooth consistency. Overall a lovely color that lends itself to the brightest notes of sunlit foliage in landscape.
