Quinacridone Violet / Rose (this pigment can be violet or magenta)
Winsor and Newton’s Permanent Magenta is a PV19 of the violet variety. There are two forms of PV19, one is more rose and the other more violet. Among the violet shades Winsor and Newton’s is one of the redder ones while still being similar to the other PV19 violets. It is not an exceptionally strong tinter— about on par with Blockx. Permanent Magenta produces chromatic tints. The paint is somewhat loose or semi-transparent, and even when mixed with a bit of opaque titanium white there is some semi-transparency. In tints it is most similar to M Graham’s Quinacridone Violet.
