Cadmium Red
An impasto color, this one is extra thick and does not have a flowing feel to it. It forms stiff, short peaks. There was a claylike feeling to the impasto with a lot of adhesion. It would likely need modification if one was painting realistically in order to flow a bit, however for impasto applications this one is perhaps the stiffest and most sculptable Gamblin cadmiums.
A previous description read, ”Cadmium Red Deep is a dark red with muted tints, ideal for a slight blush in a shy smile or the deep shadows of a rose petal.“ -Gamblin Oils. Gamblin lists the color temperature as warm.
