Cadmium Red
This red color is quite deep while being solidly in the reds- Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Deep is a bit deeper than most brands using the same name. The naming in this hue space can describe colors all over the map in the low lightness reds. In comparison with Williamsburg’s Cadmium Purple this color is cherry red. The Williamsburg Cadmium Red Deep is lighter than some of the red purples and cadmium maroons in other brands. In terms of lightness, Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Deep is lighter than Maimer’s Red Purple while being rich and chromatic. The paint dries a bit matte. A a similar to Williamsburg Cadmium Red Deep would be RGH Cadmium Purple, which is really very red despite the name. Williamsburg’s Cadmium Red Deep is a powerful tinter. When mixed with Oleogel the glaze is more chromatic than the masstone, which is a typical result of adding Oleogel. This is a high chroma, strong tinting, solid red.
