Holbein’s Cadmium Yellow Light is a high chroma cadmium yellow. This color has a bit of a different degree of warmth to the hue than some other brands with the same name. While being solidly what we would call yellow, Holbein’s Yellow Light version is more of a middle yellow (a step toward orange makes it more of a middle yellow) than most cadmium yellow lights. This paint is more in the hue region of Munsell 2.5Y. In summary, this paint is closer to what might be named a Cadmium Yellow Medium in most other brands—for reference, it is in the same color grouping as Old Holland’s Cadmium Yellow Medium. Update: Unfortunately Holbein discontinued a huge portion of the artists oil color range, and this color was among the paints that are now unavailable. The brand codes for this color are H051 for the 20ml tube, and H251 for the 40ml tube.
