Three Oranges

Old Holland Cadmium Orange, Gamblin Cadmium Orange Deep and Williamsburg's Cadmium Orange.

This hue range is a beautiful arpeggio: Old Holland's Cadmium Orange is in the 10R range and Williamsburg's is closer to 1.25YR in Munsell terms. The Old Holland is actually a better/darker tinter than it looks like here and had the highest tinting strength of the three.

All three paints shown are mixed with Williamsburg Titanium White in Linseed (PW6).

A side note on colors of orange: This was shot on an iphone 14 and this is the current best color balance we could get (so far). For some reason Apple color management is a bit bonkers for oranges especially (suspect this has to do with the P3 color profile).
