Quinacridone Scarlet

PR207

Pigment Description

A gorgeous light red which is both transparent and has excellent lightfastness. Sadly it was also recently discontinued. It's hard to find transparent reds with good lightfastness, and this one was particularly gorgeous in tints.

Maimeri Puro Madder (Alizarin) Light Imitation Hue, PR207

Quinacridone Scarlet has a delicate quality reminiscent of PR209. Quinacridone Scarlet also reminds us a bit of what we love about PR188-- that incredible lyrical quality in transparency. Quinacridone Scarlet is a bit closer to middle-red in washes than PR188, which is a bit more of a yellower red.

Quinacridone Scarlet creates candy-colored reds in tints. A few other quinacridone reds also make lovely tints, but we quite appreciated the way PR207 mixed with Titanium White.

Tint of Maimeri Puro's PR207

PR207 is sometimes called Quinacridone Red Light, which seemed like a fitting name. It's hard to describe the refined and exquisite quality of this red-- simultaneously high saturation and bright without being overpowering.
