Cadmium Yellow
Maimeri Puro’s Cadmium Yellow occupies what may be a special niche among cadmium yellows in its hue. This color has an ability to saturate mixes combined with being a yellow with a cool undertone, meaning it leans a bit toward green. It’s surprisingly difficult to mix this hue, and we’re in love with its unique place on the spectrum as well as what it can achieve in mixes. The paint does separate a bit sometimes when coming out of the tube, however it is easily reincorporated. Since no other brand we’ve found makes this hue it’s easy to overlook. This might be the most yellow (to the greens) cadmium yellow we’ve found at this lightness. Some paints are bright yellow and green-leaning at a slightly higher lightness—like Michael Harding’s Cadmium Yellow Light, which is very bright. However, Maimeri Puro’s Cadmium Yellow Light is special for its star-power at just a slightly lower lightness. An invaluable yellow for those who love Cadmium Yellow Light.
