Paint List is a resource for artists who want to deepen their understanding of paint and expand their studio practice. We are a community of artists who are committed to independent testing and review of fine art paints.
Independent Reviews
For your peace of mind, we are not paid by paint brands to review their paints. This site is powered by our community through our affiliate links, so we may receive a commission from sales made through the site at no extra cost to you. When we recommend a paint, it is one we have bought or experienced ourselves. We do not receive paints from paint brands in exchange for our reviews.
Acknowledgements
We would like to acknowledge and thank several artists and researchers who advanced the field of paint testing before us. In particular, we would like to thank Virgil Elliott, Bruce McEvoy (Handprint), Jim Harris (a.k.a. Gunzorro), and many others for their pioneering work in this area. We would also like to thank the artists and enthusiasts who have contributed to the discussion of paint quality on the WetCanvas forums over the years. We see this site as a continuation of the tradition of independent paint testing and review that these artists began.
We would also like to thank the fine art paint manufacturers who continue to inspire generations of artists through their committment to the time-honored tradition of paintmaking.
